Coming off a 12-0 season in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) play and a 17-8 overall record, the Fredericktown boys’ basketball team has high hopes for the 2023-2024 campaign but it won’t be easy with only one returning starter in Trevor Bellman coming back.

The Knox Morrow Athletic Conference released their All-KMAC football selections for 2023. The conference includes Cardington-Lincoln, Centerburg, East Knox, Fredericktown, Mount Gilead, Loudonville and Northmor.

The following events are scheduled to take place in Fredericktown this month.

The No. 14 Fredericktown couldn’t keep up with No. 3 Archbold in the first round of the Division V Region 18 tournament, losing 37-6 in a game they trailed early and couldn’t gain ground.

No. 14 Fredericktown Freddies (5-5, 4-3) at No. 3 Archbold Blue Streaks (9-1, 6-1)

Blake Sipes went off for 242 yards rushing and four total touchdowns to lead the Frederickown (5-5, 4-3) Freddies to a 32-14 win over Centerburg (4-6, 3-4), which qualified them for the postseason.

No. 5 Fredericktown (19-5, 11-1) won the first two rounds of the Division III Central 1 Sectional/District tournament last week, with wins over Tree of Life Christian and Africentric Early College.

Fredericktown (16-4, 11-1) played its final week of the regular season, finishing with a share of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) volleyball title.

Fredericktown (4-5, 3-3) ran for 335 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry as a team in a 38-16 win over Cardington-Lincoln (1-8, 0-6), with quarterback Blake Sipes going off for 181 yards and score on the ground to go along with his three passing touchdowns.

Fredericktown (16-3, 11-0) is leading the KMAC as the season winds down, and last week the Freddies remained hot with a pair of sweeps over conference foes Mount Gilead (0-19, 0-11) and Northmor (11-8, 6-5), with setter Julia Partington stuffing the stat sheet.

Fredericktown and Cardington-Lincoln face off on the gridiron in KMAC football action this week.

Blake Elliott had a monster day for East Knox (5-3, 4-1), rushing for 205 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a 35-0 shutout over KMAC rival Fredericktown (3-5, 2-3).

The FHS Alumni Association is pleased to announce that a fully endowed scholarship has been established to honor the life of 1958 FHS graduate David L. Dalrymple who became a role model in multiple fields including college professor, author, inventor, and community leader.

East Knox Bulldogs (4-3, 3-1) at Fredericktown Freddies (3-4, 2-2)

Blake Sipes was a force in the air and on the ground for Fredericktown (3-4, 2-2) on Friday night, tallying all four of the team’s touchdowns in a 28-14 win over Loudonville (2-5, 1-3) in what was his best overall game of the season so far.

The Fredericktown Freddies managed just 28 yards passing in a 35-0 loss to the Northmor Golden Knights, Friday night in Galion.

Mount Vernon's Logan Eggert placed third of 183 entrants in the Varsity Division 1 5,000 meter boys' high school finals at Saturday's Newark Invitational.

Ian Muka signed to further his academic and golf careers at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, in a ceremony held at Fredericktown High School on May 4 in front of a group of Muka’s family and friends, as well as the school's athletic director and coaches.

The Fredericktown senior student-athlete signing parade continued, as Freddies long-distance runner Owen Krabill recently signed his commitment to run and study for the NAIA Division-2 Dordt University Defenders, who are based in Sioux Center, Iowa.
