The Fredericktown girls’ basketball (5-5, 2-3) team took care of KMAC rival Northmor (3-9, 0-6) with ease, with Ella Bouton leading the Freddies to a 42-24 win over the the Golden Knights.

The following events are scheduled to take place in Fredericktown this month.

The Fredericktown boys’ basketball team (2-3, 1-1) had four players in double figures, led by a double-double performance by Trevor Bellman to beat the East Knox Bulldogs (0-6, 0-2) by a score of 62-39 in a KMAC matchup.

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team (4-0, 2-0) remained perfect in the early season with a 73-51 win over Fredericktown (1-3, 0-1) on Dec. 15 and AJ Brehm was to lead the charge in a KMAC victory.

The Fredericktown boys’ basketball team (1-1, 0-0) opened up the season with a tough road loss to Crestview (5-0, 1-0), but were able to bounce back in front of a home crowd with a 66-59 win over Horizon Science Academy (1-4, 1-0) on Dec. 8.

The Division IV and Division V All-Ohio football teams were announced on Dec. 5 and a number athletes in the Mount Vernon News coverage area were included, including eight players from West Holmes.

The Fredericktown Freddies (2-1, 0-0) took a 61-50 win over the Utica Redskins (0-4, 0-0) on Nov. 28, led by Cally Carpenter and Mya Bryant who each had 23 points in the victory.

The Fredericktown girls’ basketball team struggled last year going 8-15, but the Freddies lost only one senior and Coach Jared Pryor hopes his talented group of returners can get above .500 and compete for a Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) title.

Cally Carpenter was one of the top girls’ basketball players in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference last year, and the junior Freddie was hot right out of the gate to be named Mount Vernon Athlete of the Week.

Fredericktown and Highland went head to head in girls’ basketball on Nov. 23, and Cally Carpenter put on a show for the Freddies to lead the team to a 51-37 win over the Lady Scots.

Coming off a 12-0 season in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) play and a 17-8 overall record, the Fredericktown boys’ basketball team has high hopes for the 2023-2024 campaign but it won’t be easy with only one returning starter in Trevor Bellman coming back.

The Knox Morrow Athletic Conference released their All-KMAC football selections for 2023. The conference includes Cardington-Lincoln, Centerburg, East Knox, Fredericktown, Mount Gilead, Loudonville and Northmor.

The following events are scheduled to take place in Fredericktown this month.

The No. 14 Fredericktown couldn’t keep up with No. 3 Archbold in the first round of the Division V Region 18 tournament, losing 37-6 in a game they trailed early and couldn’t gain ground.

No. 14 Fredericktown Freddies (5-5, 4-3) at No. 3 Archbold Blue Streaks (9-1, 6-1)

Blake Sipes went off for 242 yards rushing and four total touchdowns to lead the Frederickown (5-5, 4-3) Freddies to a 32-14 win over Centerburg (4-6, 3-4), which qualified them for the postseason.

No. 5 Fredericktown (19-5, 11-1) won the first two rounds of the Division III Central 1 Sectional/District tournament last week, with wins over Tree of Life Christian and Africentric Early College.

Fredericktown (16-4, 11-1) played its final week of the regular season, finishing with a share of the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) volleyball title.

Fredericktown (4-5, 3-3) ran for 335 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry as a team in a 38-16 win over Cardington-Lincoln (1-8, 0-6), with quarterback Blake Sipes going off for 181 yards and score on the ground to go along with his three passing touchdowns.

Fredericktown (16-3, 11-0) is leading the KMAC as the season winds down, and last week the Freddies remained hot with a pair of sweeps over conference foes Mount Gilead (0-19, 0-11) and Northmor (11-8, 6-5), with setter Julia Partington stuffing the stat sheet.
