The Fredericktown senior student-athlete signing parade continued, as Freddies long-distance runner Owen Krabill recently signed his commitment to run and study for the NAIA Division-2 Dordt University Defenders based in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The ceremony, held at Fredericktown High School on April 21, was attended by several dozen supporters, including Krabill’s family, friends and coaches. Krabill, a two-time Freddies Cross Country MVP and a Track MVP, is also a two-time KMAC first-team selection and was named to first-team All-District twice and first-team All-Region once. His career bests at Fredericktown include 800M in 2:01, 1600M in 4:32, 3200M in 10:07 and 5K in 16:42.

Krabill said he committed to Dordt for its principles and standards. “I chose Dordt because of their strong Christian values in education, especially in Agriculture, and their successful Cross Country and Track programs,” Krabill said.

He will be studying Agriculture Technology at Dordt, and athletically, he said his goal for the track season is to run in the D-2 State meet in the 1600M event.

Fredericktown High School Athletic Director and Assistant Principal Adam Brown said Krabill demonstrates his leadership and abilities on an off the track. “Owen has been a leader in cross country and track the past few years,” Brown said. “He has done an outstanding job representing Fredericktown in a positive way during his four years here.”

“I wouldn’t be here without others,” Krabill said. “I want to give the credit to my parents, coaches, teammates and God for my success.”
