Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Knox County

A fatal crash occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2025, on State Route 95 near milepost 6 north of Fredericktown in Knox County. The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Alicia Johnson, a 70-year-old resident of Plymouth, Ohio, was driving a 2020 Vespa GTS300 motorcycle southwest on State Route 95 when she failed to negotiate a curve. This caused her to drive off the right side of the road and overturn. Bridgette Murray, aged 52 from Mansfield, Ohio, was riding as a passenger on the Vespa.

Both individuals were taken to Ohio Health in Mansfield. Unfortunately, Ms. Murray did not survive her injuries. Ms. Johnson sustained serious injuries in the crash. It was noted that Ms. Murray was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in this incident. The Ohio State Highway Patrol received assistance at the scene from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Fredericktown Police Department, and Fredericktown Fire/EMS.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
