Enrollments: Fredericktown (342), Archbold (359)
Coaches: Fredericktown- William Hartley, Archbold- Dave Dominique
Streaks: Fredericktown- 2 wins, Archbold 6 wins
At Stake: Fredericktown ended the season on a high note with back-to-back wins that led them to a playoff berth. The Freddies hope to keep it rolling but face a tough No. 3 Archbold squad who is cruising with a six game winning streak.
What to Watch: The Freddies were 3-5 and had two important KMAC games on the schedule. They threw it all out on the field and came away with two convincing wins to get to .500 and 4-3 in the division. Look for Fredericktown to come out with a fire lit under them.
The Freddies are led by Blake Sipes, who is coming off a big time performance where he ran for 242 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-14 win over rival Centerburg. He was also 6-for-13 for 62 yards and a pair of scores.
Watch out for Elijah Roush and Trevor Bellman, as well. Last week Bellman scored on both touchdown passes, both for 10 yards. Roush got into the end zone once on a rushing score, and while he couldn’t get it going, he has been a dependable running back all season.
Coach Will Hartley was happy with the way the team played as the season wound down, and also prided in his defense that picked off three passes and recovered a fumble. He also recognizes that this is a huge test, taking on a very talented Archbold team in enemy territory.
Archbold is a perennial powerhouse coming off a season where they lost early in the playoffs. They have a high powered offense averaging 38.5 points per game, and a defense only giving up 13.4 points per game. Many of their games have been won in blow out fashion, and most recently they beat Bryan 42-21.
Cade Brenner leads the team’s offense at the quarterback position, throwing to the likes of Chase Miller and Josiah Gomez. Lucas Dominique has been a solid back for the Blue Streaks, coming off a 143 yard performance on the ground. Jack Hurst is coming off two straight games where he scored three touchdowns. Last week he had three rushing touchdowns. He has 10 touchdowns over the past three games and a season total of 18.
