Sipes scores four TDs for Freddies in 38-16 win over Cardington-Lincoln

Fredericktown (4-5, 3-3) ran for 335 yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry as a team in a 38-16 win over Cardington-Lincoln (1-8, 0-6). Blake Sipes went off for 181 yards and score on the ground to go along with his three passing touchdowns.

The Freddies led the Pirates 12-0 after one quarter and 25-8 at halftime. Fredericktown outscored Cardington-Lincoln 13-8 in the third quarter and both teams were scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Sipes was 7-for-14 for 128 with three passing touchdowns and a pick. He ran the ball 23 times for 181 yards and a touchdown, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. On the season, Sipes leads the team with 754 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yard per carry. He has also thrown for 869 yards.

Running backs Trevor Bellman and Elijah Roush were also on top of their game, each rushing for a touchdown and Bellman also catching one. Bellman had 12 carries for 78 yards and Roush ran 19 times for 76 yards.

Grant Hartley caught three passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. He was 2-for-3 on extra points, as well. Bellman had two catches for 35 yards, with one for a score. Gavin Toombs also had a two-yard catch for a touchdown. Cirk Parker was the top defensive player with 7.5 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Hartley had a fumble recovery and an interception. Toombs had 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles. Recording half-sacks were Lane Warner, Cam Koelbl, Nick McFerren, Clint Parker, Kooper Auker, and Roush.

The Freddies were led by Wyatt Denney, who ran for more than 100 yards with a pair of scores. He had a solid day running the ball including a big 37-yard touchdown where he put on the afterburners down the sideline, broke several tackles, and rumbled for a score. His other score went for five hard earned yards where he plowed through defenders to find the end zone. He also had runs of 40 and 23 yards in the game where he showed off his speed and elusiveness.

The Pirates have now lost six straight games and have been outscored 336-87 this season. They have one game remaining, where Cardington-Lincoln hosts Mount Gilead on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

Fredericktown has their final game of the season on Friday at 7 p.m. against Centerburg at home.
