The Danville Blue Devils capped off a dream season by capturing the 2026 OHSAA Division VI State Softball Championship.
On Thursday, June 4, at Firestone Stadium, Danville defeated West Jefferson 2–0 in extra innings, securing the program’s state title.
The championship clash was a tense pitcher’s duel, with both teams locked at 0–0 through eight innings. In the ninth, Danville broke through with clutch hitting to plate two runs, while their defense held strong to preserve the shutout. The win not only extended their streak to seven straight victories but also delivered redemption after falling to West Jefferson in the 2025 district finals.
Danville’s season numbers reflect their dominance: a 25–5 overall record, .833 winning percentage, and a 13–1 mark in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference to claim the league crown. Balanced across venues, the Blue Devils went 9–2 at home, 10–2 on the road, and 6–1 at neutral sites. Their offense produced 247 runs while the defense allowed just 80, underscoring their ability to win in every phase of the game.
The accolades didn’t stop with the championship. Addy Bocock was named the Top Player of the Entire State Tournament across all divisions, a rare and prestigious honor that highlighted her impact on both sides of the ball. The Blue Devils’ title game was also recognized as the Best Game of the Entire Tournament, a testament to the drama and quality of play on display in Akron.
Additionally, Danville placed four athletes on the All‑Tournament Team: Addy Bocock, Morgan Hinkens, Dalayna Parker, and Ruby Bartok. Their collective contributions—whether at the plate, in the field, or on the mound—were critical to the Blue Devils’ championship run and showcased the depth of talent within the program.
The 2026 triumph builds on the foundation of the 2025 squad, which finished 23–2 with a .920 winning percentage but fell short in the postseason. This year’s team combined veteran leadership with emerging stars to push through the final hurdle.
With a state championship banner, individual honors, and a season defined by resilience and redemption, Danville softball’s 2026 campaign will be remembered as one of the greatest in program history. The Blue Devils proved they could finish the job—and did so in unforgettable fashion.
