Faculty, staff and students at Mount Vernon Nazarene University now have convenient on-campus access to medical care thanks to a partnership between the university and Knox County Community Health Center, a local Federally Qualified Health Center which is a clinical branch of Knox Public Health.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Schnormeier Gallery is proud to present Momentum – Senior Graphic Design Exhibit from March 28 to April 8. An Opening Reception for the seniors will take place at the gallery on April 1, from 6-8 p.m.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University has received a nearly $48,000 Program Development Grant award from NetVUE to fund the expansion of vocational exploration in the student experience at MVNU. The grant will be used May 1 through April 30, 2024.

Faculty and staff at Mount Vernon Nazarene University celebrated the contribution of peers during the Excellence Beyond the Call awards reception held Thursday, Feb. 17, in Foster Hall. The honorees John Mohnasky and Charlotte Skeese. They were nominated by peers and selected by the award committee through a review process.

John Donnelly, Professor of Art at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, has 18 abstract paintings and drawings on display at Art Access Gallery in Bexley. The exhibit runs through April 8.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Speech Language Pathology and Audiology program announced a new partnership with Miami University’s Scripps Gerontology Center that will integrate art therapy sessions for people living with dementia at a local skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

An innovative approach to the study of criminal justice has been launched by Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s and men’s track and field teams competed in the Reggie Thomas Classic, hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday, February 12, and put in some notable performances.

For the second time in a week, the Mount Vernon Nazarene Lady Cougars had a junior basketball star reach the 1000-point career milestone, and this time, it occurred on senior day. During the third quarter, junior Maggie Coe reached a basketball milestone, by surpassing 1,000 career points in an MVNU uniform. She joined junior teammate Rylee Pireu who reached the 1000-point plateau earlier in the week, Feb .1 against Taylor.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University cheerleading team competed in the MVNU Invite inside Ariel Arena on Saturday, February 5. Along with MVNU, Bethel University and Point Park University competed iin the inviational event. MVNU put forth a huge effort in the second competition of the night. MVNU made the most of the moment, placing first in a cheer competition for the first time in program history.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team (13-11, 7-5) traveled to Upland, Indiana to face Taylor University (11-10, 5-4) on Tuesday, February 1. Despite the 97-85 loss at the hands of the Trojans, the Lady Cougars were able to see one of their own achieve a career milestone. Entering Tuesday’s game, junior Rylee Pireu needed just 13 points to reach 1,000 for her MVNU women’s basketball career. Pireu came out strong, reaching the milestone with a layup almost six minutes into the first quarter. Along with the new milestone, Pireu had one of the best games of her MVNU career as she finished with 29 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor.

MOUNT VERNON – The Music Department presents the Bryden String Quartet in concert on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University, in conjunction with Kenyon College and the Knox County community, will host the 19th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Monday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Schnormeier Gallery is proud to present Specimens and Reflections - Claudia Esslinger & Royal Rhodes. This exhibit will be on display in the gallery from 1 p.m., Jan. 6 to Feb. 18, 2022. A gallery talk will be given at the Schnormeier Gallery on Friday Jan. 21, at 5 p.m., with a reception to follow from 6-8 p.m.

A 1971 graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene College was presented the Distinguished Alumni Service Award during the 2021 Homecoming activities at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Nov. 12-13.

Middle and high school honors bands will gather at Mount Vernon Nazarene University Saturday, Dec. 4, for this year’s Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 10 education and performance seminar.
