The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team secured its first Crossroads League victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Taylor University. The match took place on October 18 at CH4 Stadium in Mount Vernon, Ohio. It was also senior night for MVNU, with players Diogo Assis, Christian Dean, Alex DeJesus, Tiago DeJesus, Micah Post, Seth Richardson, Reid Vance, and Mattia Zuin recognized for their contributions to the team.
MVNU's Miguel Bello scored the opening goal in the 11th minute with assists from Diogo Bento and Elkana Maier. Kevin Ngula extended the lead in the 53rd minute with a goal assisted by Tiago DeJesus. Brayden Pierson performed well as goalkeeper, saving all eight shots from Taylor University.
The team will next face Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana on October 25 at 5:00 p.m.
