MVNU men's cross country sets new program record at Great Lakes Challenge

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's cross country team participated in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday, October 25. The team secured the 18th position out of 23 teams with a total of 418 points. Indiana Wesleyan emerged as the winner of the meet.

The MVNU team achieved a new program record for total team time in the 8K race, clocking in at 2:08:24.90. This marks the third occasion this season that they have surpassed their previous record. Will Baker led the team with a notable performance, finishing 12th among 204 runners and setting a new school record with his time of 24:34.20.

Five of MVNU's top seven runners achieved personal bests during this event. Notable finishes included Mason Hendrickson in 80th place with a time of 25:40.30 and Ryan Lehman closely following in 81st place at 25:40.60.

The next competition for MVNU will be the Crossroads League Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Friday, November 7, starting at 10:00 a.m.
