Judy Gawelek, Library Media Specialist at Huber Ridge Elementary School, has been named the recipient of the Rosen Publishing Ohio School Librarian of the Month Award for April 2026, according to an announcement from the Ohio Educational Library Media Association.

The award recognizes one school librarian each month who designs, develops, and implements a collaborative lesson plan or programming that empowers student learning. The association said this recognition highlights the importance of both the school library community and librarians in transforming learning throughout students’ K-12 education. OELMA partners with Rosen Publishing for this award.

Rosen Publishing has provided engaging print and digital books on a wide range of curriculum-aligned topics since its establishment in 1950. The company is also known for its databases and interactive e-books.

As part of her recognition, Gawelek will have the opportunity to select a free set of books for her school library from Rosen Publishing Company. She will also be recognized at the 2026 OELMA Conference. The association said it looks forward to sharing Gawelek’s work in "Chick Quest" in an upcoming OELMA Rosen blog.

More information about nominating oneself or another OELMA Library Media Specialist for future awards can be found on the Professional Recognition tab of the OELMA website. Additional details are available through the organization's website.
