Doctor discusses how to differentiate COVID, allergy symptoms

Whether or not the Mount Vernon area may feel this way yet, spring is here and with that comes allergy season. With the pandemic still lingering around it could serve to be a confusing time for people trying to evaluate whether a symptom is COVID-19 or allergies, and UnitedHealthcare of Ohio CMO Dr. Gary Grosel had some pointers for the public.

Highland improved its season mark to 6-2 with a doubleheader sweep of Fredericktown, 3-2 and 4-2 on April 23, to drop the Lady Freddies to 8-4. In the opener, Highland put a run in in the first, took a 2-1 lead in the sixth, only to have Fredericktown come back with two to tie the score. Highland scored the tie-breaker in the top of the seventh.

Armose drives in seven as Golden Knights sweep Redbirds. Andrew Armrose drove three runs in the first game and four more in game two, to lead Northmor to a doubleheader sweep over Loudonville, 5-3, 11-1 on April 23.

This week we have four stars of the diamond who did their talking with their bats, and out-powered the competition.

Lady Jackets score in bunches, sweep Whippets 17-2, 12-4 . The Mount Vernon Lady Yellow Jackets ran their season record to 11-2 and 6-0 in Ohio Cardinal Conference play with back-to-back wins over West Holmes, 17-2 and 12-4. Lady Scots score big in later innings to beat Harding 12-4 , Shelby 6-1. Highland’s Lady Scots seem to wake up their bats later in the game, as they scored three runs in the third and poured it on with two in the sixth and five in the seventh to down Marion Harding 12-4 on April 14, and they put four runs on the board in the fourth and two in the sixth to down Shelby, 6-1 on April 20

Mount Vernon takes a pair from West Holmes, 10-3, 2-0. The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets got the best of the West Holmes Knights, April 19-20 with back-to-back wins, 10-3 and 2-0.Centerburg scores 40 runs in two games in two blowouts. The Centerburg Trojans scored, scored and scored some more, running their record to 7-1 with a 26-3 assault on Eastmoor Academy, April 19 and a 14-4 rout of Mount Gilead, April 20.

Let’s talk big-money contracts. The big baseball news lately hovers around the “Face of the Yankees,” and one of the faces of major league baseball, Aaron Judge. Judge is larger than life. At 6-foot-7 and 282 pounds, he IS a big man. When he hits home runs – in his 2017 rookie season he hit 52 of them and in his career he has 159 bombs in 584 games -- his exit velocity and distance are second only to teammate Giancarlo Stanton.

It was softball, but the final was football-scorey, as the East Knox Bulldogs rang up 27 runs to down Mount Gilead, 2-0, April 14.Danville no-hits Northmor, romps to 10-0 victory, wins second game 14-6. In the resumption of a suspended game, a four-run Danville first inning was all the Lady Blue Devils needed, as two-pitcher shut out nd not hit the visiting Northmor Lady Knights, 10-0, April 15.

Golden Knights hold Danville to one hit in 13-1 romp.The Danville Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead after one inning, but were held to one hit and the Northmor Golden Knights scored five in the second and seven in the fifth and connected for eight hits to take a 13-1 decision April 15.
