Cougars set school records at NAIA track championships

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University outdoor track & field team set school records for All-American placques and medals in competiton at the 2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 25-27 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Performing on the national stage, the 2022 event became a special one for head coach Ellis Gallion’s qualifiers. Overall, MVNU saw team records fall, PRs get set, and seven total All-American plaques and medals get handed out. The All-American honors marked the most the program has had in its history.
Cougars send 10 track athletes to NAIA championships

MVNU will be sending 10 student athletes to the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama with competition set for May 25-27 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium. The athletes were announced by the NAIA as National Qualifiers.

he Mount Vernon Nazarene University outdoor track & field team competed in the Last Chance Meet, hosted by St. Francis (Ill.) on May 13-14. and saw the 4x400m relay team of Erich Rhodeback, Jaden Haldeman, Liam Near and Marcus Whaley join the club. The group finished with a “B” standard time of 3:17.01 in the event.

Mount Vernon Nazarene golfers have earned recognition from the Crossroads League in both men's and women's golf. Dylan Errington of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s golf team earned recognition from the Crossroads League for his play. Peyton Broce.and Isabela Carvajal Rios of the lady Cougars also took home all-league honors.
Lady Cougars shoot program low score, finish 5th in Crossroads Championships

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s golf team placed fifth in the Crossroads League Women’s Golf Championships at the Prairie View Golf Club on May 2-3. The Lady Cougars were able to make some program history in the tournament as their score of 310 after the first day of competition ended up being a new team low score.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s and women's golf teams competed in the Pilot Invitational at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana on April 15-16. the men finished fourth among nine teams and the women placed eighth of 13 teams.

Cougars win back-to-back sweeps, move 13 games over .500

On Monday and Tuesday, the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars baseball team swept back-to-back doubleheaders to improve their season record to 23-10 and 10-4 in Crossroads League play. MVNU took a twin bill from the Goshen College Maple Leafs 8-4 and 6-2 on April 4. The Cougars then swept the Lourdes University Gray Wolves 12-3 and 7-1 on April 5.
