MVNU places 15th in Bill Blazer Memorial golf tournament

URBANA – While many golf fans' attention was focused on the Masters golf tournament last week, local enthusiasts were watching the Bill Blazer Memorial on April 9-10, hosted by Ohio Dominican University. Among the teams competing was the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s golf team.  

MVNU placed 15th overall out of 16 teams in a stacked field that consisted of NCAA Division-II competition. Overall, the Cougars finished the tournament with a two-round score of 639 (325, 314).

The Cougars were led by Max Hahn, who finished 52nd overall with a score of 157 (82, 75), Dylan Errington placed tied for 60th with a score of 160 (81, 79), and Brock Dettmer and Mount Vernon High School graduate Jordan Hoag tied for 69th overall with scores of 161 (79, 82 and 83, 78). Rounding out the MVNU contingent was Riley Wilcoxon, who placed 77th with a score of 165. (83, 82). Thad Weaver competed individually and finished tied for 74th with a score of 164 (79, 85).

The MVNU men’s golf tam will compete again at the Bethel Invitational, hosted by Bethel University, at the Blackthorn Golf Course on April 15-16 in South Bend, Ind.
