Lady Cougars open golf season with 10th-place finish

BLACKLICK, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s golf team began its spring season on April 4-5 in the NC4K Classic, hosted by Ohio Dominican University. MVNU represented well as it finished 10th in a strong field of 19 that included NCAA Division-II opponents. As a team, the Lady Cougars finished with a two-round score of 668 (330, 338).

Top MVNU performers included Isabela Carvajal Rios, who led MVNU and tied for 29th overall with a score of 162 (79, 83). Jewel Goins placed tied for 33rd overall with a score of 163 (84, 79). Peyton Broce tied for 52nd with a 171 score (83, 88), and Emily Wilson placed tied for 56th with a score of 172 (84, 88).

 

Cougars close lacrosse season with 22-7 win over Point

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s lacrosse team (10-3) closed its season on a high note after defeating Point University (1-12) by a score of 22-7. 

\MVNU used stifling defense and balanced offense to dominate the contest. MVNU forced 26 turnovers on defense and saw 13 different Cougars score on offense. 

Brett Townsend scored a game-high four goals and had an assist. Luke Modesto and Gabe Wolf each had three goals. Wolf had two assists, and Modesto one. Ian Ranck had two goals and two assists, and Ryan LaAsmar scored two goals. Joshua Hageman had 16 saves in goal.
