CARMEL, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s golf team placed fifth in the Crossroads League Women’s Golf Championships at the Prairie View Golf Club on May 2-3.
The tournament, which was hosted by Grace College, included nine teams from the Crossroads League. MVNU finished fifth overall with a score of 950 after three rounds of play (310, 320, 320). Indiana Wesleyan ended the tournament as conference champions, as it won with a final score of 911. Taylor University placed second with a total of 913, and Bethel University followed behind the Trojans with a score of 934.
The Lady Cougars were able to make some program history in the tournament, as their score of 310 after the first day of competition ended up being a new team low score.
Peyton Broce led MVNU with a top-ten finish. Broce tied for seventh overall with a total of 232 through three rounds. Teammate Isabela Carvajal Rios narrowly missed a top-10 spot, as she tied for 11 place with a score of 234.
Other top MVNU performers included Emily Wilson, who finished 20th overall with a total of 243; Katie Bruursema, who placed 23rd overall with a final score of 245; and Jewel Goins, who finished 32nd with a score of 253.
