Cougars golf team finishes 4th at Pilot Invitational; Lady Cougars place 8th

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s golf team finished fourth and the women's team placed eighth in competiition at the Pilot Invitational at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind., on April 15-16. 

MVNU placed fourth among nine teams in the event with a two-round score of 630 (314, 316). Taylor University placed first in the event with a score of 597. The women were eighth of 13 teams with a score of 665 (334, 331) as Taylor University placed first at 641.

Junior Jordan Hoag, a graduate of Mount Vernon High School, led MVNU performers as he tied for 10th with a score of 153 (78, 75). Dylan Errington and Brock Dettmer tied for 23rd with a score of 160 (76, 84 and 80, 80). Max Hahn finished tied for 27th at 162 (80, 82). Senior Brandon Main, a graduate of Fredericktown High School, placed 32nd with a score of 166 (87, 79).

For the Lady Cougars, Emily Wilson tied for fourth with a score of 156 (77, 79), Peyton Broce placed 18th with a score of 165 (83, 82). Jewel Goins placed tied for 29th at 170 (85, 85), and Katie Bruursema finished tied for 34th with a score of 174 (89, 85)..
