Mount Vernon wins a pair on the road over West Holmes and Olentangy Berlin. Mount Vernon’s boys basketball teams won two games on back-to-back nights on the road, to run their record to 8-7 (4-2 Ohio Cardinal Conference). On Jan. 14, the Yellow Jackets topped West Holmes, 56-54 and the next evening, the Jackets got the better of Olentangy Berlin, 60-43

Cardington-Lincoln rolls on with 73-48 win over East Knox. The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates victory train continues as C-L romped over East Knox, 73-48 on Jan. 8. The 25-point victory added to the Lady Pirates win streaks, which now sit at 12-0 this season and 8-0 in KMAC play, and run the C-L locomotive to 50 consecutive regular-season wins and 64 straight victories in KMAC.

Cardington-Lincoln barely keeps streaks alive with 56-53 win at Northmor.The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates entered play Wednesday night at Northmor, with a 10-0 season record, 48 straight regular season wins, 62 KMAC wins in a row and a No. 3 ranking in the current AP Division III poll. The dream season almost came crashing down, as a tough Northmor team kept plugging away before C-L prevailed, 56-53 to keep its streaks alive.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls basketball team continued its dominance with a 54-37 win over Mount Gilead on Dec. 22 to improve to 9-0 on the season. Getting douible-figures scoring from four players, C-L led from start to finish to keep this perfect season alive. The Lady Pirates led 15-10 lead one frame thanks to Kambry Edwards putting up five of her 12 points including a three pointer. After one half it was 32-16 Pirates, with Beth Hardwick hitting a pair of threes on her way to 10 total points. The Pirates went into the second half with confidence outscoring Mount Gilead 13-9, with Karsyn Edwards scoring five points. The final frame saw an Indians advantage of 11-9, but it was too little too late.
Hess scores 22 as Devils pull away from Bulldogs

The numbers show Brooklynn Hess as the top scorer for the Danville Blue Devils. What the numbers don’t show are her defensive skills. And they were on full display against East Knox on Wednesday.

Pirates unbeaten streak continues with 56-28 win over Freddies. Cardington-Lincoln won their 61st consecutive KMAC contest and 46th consecutive regular-season win, by trouncing Fredericktown 56-28 last week. Cardington-Lincoln moved to 8-0 and 5-0 in KMAC as they took a 15-point first quarter lead and coasted to victory. They played methodically and took care of the ball, committing only nine turnovers to 26 by the Freddies.

Freddies rally in second half to down Bulldogs 57- 42. Trailing at half-time, Fredericktown (6-2, 3-1 KMAC) took command in the second half, and defeated East Knox (3-4, 2-3 KMAC) in a girls basketball game, 57-42, Wednesday night at East Knox.

Scots lose game at the line to Pleasant, 62-57. The Highland Scots traveled to Pleasant High School on Dec. 4, and in a tough and close game, that was decided by free throw performance, the Scots went home with a 62-57 loss in what was the first win of the season for Pleasant. Mount Vernon wins 62-61 thriller over Mansfield. A tight first half moved into a come-from-behind situation in the second half for Mount Vernon (2-2, 1-0 OCC), as they beat Mansfield (2-2 1-1 OCC) in a thriller, 62-61.

Cardington-Lincoln head girls basketball coach Jamie Edwards wants to make his final season at the helm a season to remember. His dream season was nearly derailed by a solid Danville team, and it took a solid run at the end of Saturday’s game to preserve the longest winning streak in the Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference.The Cardington-Lincoln Pirates girls basketball team outscored host Danville, 11-3, in the final minutes Saturday to escape with a 55-47 victory.

Lady Pirates remain undefeated by routing Lady Trojans 61-34. Scoring early and often and playing a suffocating defense, the Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates (6-0, 3-0 KMAC) kept their unbeaten season on course, and dominated the Centerburg Lady Trojans (1-4, 0-2 KMAC) 61-34, Wednesday evening.

Wenger scores 1000th career point but Northmor falls to Danville. Danville took an insurmountable 21-point lead in the first and rained on a milestone evening by Northmor senior shooting guard Lexi Wenger in finishing off a 67-52 victory, Saturday. Wenger scored 20 points in reaching and surpassing the 1000-point mark in her high school career.

Weckesser’s 26 outdone by Bentley’s 29 in Northmor’s comeback win over Danville. Danville’s Walker Weckesser scored 26 points, and the Blue Devils took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter, but a 29-point night by Grant Bentley and a 22-point fourth-quarter onslaught by The Golden Nights took home a come-from-behind one-point victory December 3.

On Nov. 27, Danville evened their record at 1-1 as the Blue Devil boys basketball teams held Delaware Christian to 39 points, for the game, and once again rode a big second quarter to defeat the Eagles by 18 points – 57-39.Following an 11-11 first quarter, Danville put on a 23-9 scoring show in the second, propelled by seven points from Spencer Payne, five from Darren Mickley and four each from Walker Weckesser and Kendall Carter.Holding the 34-20 half-time lead, the Blue Devils gained a point with an 11-10 third, with six points from Cam Miller.

Building on last year’s successful season, the 2021 Danville High School Blue Devils Varsity Football team is dedicated to winning the little battles of each game to come away with a ‘plus-one’. Blue Devils head coach Cam Smith, describes ‘plus-one’ as, "... the idea that there is a turnover battle, and a TD battle in each game. If we get a takeaway or a touchdown, that is ‘plus-one.’ If we turn the ball over or give up a TD, that is a ‘minus-one’. We are focused on ending up on the positive side."
