Local boys' basketball is winding down and here are a few of the local teams from last week who finished out their seasons.

The No. 5 Danville girls’ basketball team’s season came to a close in the District Semifinals of the Division IV state tournament, with the Blue Devils falling to No. 2 Fisher Catholic 41-31 on Feb. 27.

The No. 5 Danville Blue Devils won their first two rounds of the Division IV Central 1 Sectional/District Tournament, taking the Sectional title against No. 8 Ridgedale after an opening round win over No. 14 Liberty Christian.

Emotions were high in Highland where the Lady Scots (8-13, 5-9) honored the late Emma West, and Highland was able to put that energy into their play with a 50-30 win over a talented Danville (15-7, 8-4) team on Feb. 13.

The Danville girls’ basketball team (14-6, 8-4) came away with a big 52-43 win over KMAC rival East Knox (5-13, 2-9) in front of a home crowd on Senior Night, with their upperclassmen leading the charge on both offense and defense to take the conference victory.

The Danville girls’ basketball team completely ran away with the game from the start against Lucas on Jan. 25, as their defense was about as good as it gets in a 62-11 victory.

The Danville boys’ basketball team got a strong one-two punch out of Wesley Payne and Walker Weckesser, as they combined for 38 points in a 58-47 win over Mount Gilead on Jan. 20.

It was a battle between two of the top teams in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference on Jan. 12 with Centerburg (9-2, 5-1) hosting Danville (11-4, 6-2), and the Trojans were lights out shooting while playing outstanding defense in a 57-21 win.

Kylee Hess put on a show scoring the basketball with a 19 point game, leading Danville (10-3, 5-1) to a 50-42 win over KMAC rival East Knox (4-8, 1-5) on Jan. 6.

Blake Sipes had a standout performance for the Fredericktown boys’ basketball team (4-4, 2-1) on Jan. 5, leading the Freddies to a 66-47 win over KMAC rival Danville (1-10, 0-4).

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team (5-1, 3-0) bounced back with a 63-43 win over KMAC rival Danville (1-7, 0-3) on Dec. 22, making it five wins in six games to start the season for the Pirates.

Senior Ella Proper has put together a top notch career for the Danville Blue Devils (6-2, 3-1), and last week she reached the 1,000 point milestone in a win over Knox Morrow Athletic Conference rival Fredericktown (4-3, 1-2). The Blue Devils are now in first place in KMAC.

Last week the Danville boys’ basketball team (1-3, 0-0) edged out Ridgewood (1-2, 0-0) for their first win of the young season, but they couldn’t keep up the momentum with a pair of losses to Granville Christian Academy and Smithville.

It was a thrilling matchup in KMAC girls' basketball action between rivals Danville (3-2, 1-1) and Centerburg (2-2, 1-1) on Dec. 9, with Ella Proper and Kylee Hess combining for 43 points in a 71-69 double overtime win for the Blue Devils.
