C-L Lady Pirates fall to Wheelersburg in State Semis, 5-2. In a battle of Lady Pirates vs. Lady Pirates, an early homerun by Cardington-Lincoln’s Riley Burchett, for a 2-1 lead was overshadowed by a relentless Wheelersburg offense and defense as C-L fell 5-2, to end their tournament and season.

Lady Pirates advance to State Semis with 14-4 win over Van Buren. The Van Buren Black Knights went into the May 27 OHSAA Division 3 Regional Final against Cardington-Lincoln, with a 25-1 record and tons of well-earned confidence. The match-up was billed as a thriller to come, as the Lady Pirates were 23-3 and were omin off a monster 29-4 tournament bombing off Tinora.

Lady Pirates demolish Tinora Rams 29-4 in Regional semi-finals. The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates went into their Division 3 Regional Semifinal game against the Defiance Tinora Lady Rams, with confidence and that attitude paid off with 29-4 destruction of their opponent, May 24. Late rally costs Lady Bulldogs in 7-5 loss to Lady Raiders.The East Knox Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead were on their way toward advancing to the Division-4 regional Finals, when the Russia Lady Raiders rallied for three runs in their last at bat to take a 7-5 win, May 24.

Simpson spins perfect-perfect game as Lady Pirates sink Columbus 14-0. On a day in which the Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates smacked out 26 hits, C-L pitcher Ari Simpson didn’t need that kind of support as she threw a perfect game against Columbus North International, in a 14-0 victory. Simpson was perfect … completely perfect needing only 45 pitches, all strikes, in the five innings, to strike out all 15 CNI Lady Lions batters she faced, on three pitch counts. Simpson wasn’t done there, she was also perfect at the plate, with a 3-for-3 day.

Householder throws four-hit shutout in 5-0 win for East Knox. On May 14, East Knox improved to 14-6 and 8-4 in KMAC play with a 5-0 shutout victory over Big Walnut thanks to a standout performance on the mound by Bryar Householder who threw a complete-game shutout.

All the offense came from the Cardington-Lincoln softball squad on April 12, as the Lady Pirates connected for 12 hits and 12 runs, and C-L pitchers Genevieve Longsdorf and Ari Simpson combined to no-hit East Knox in a 12-0 rout. Asher pitches second no-hitter as Highland cruises to 11-0 win over Harding. Pirates eye a return to diamond prominence with aggressive offense

The Cardington-Lincoln baseball team is looking to improve on a 13-14 season in 2021, in which the Pirates went 5-9 in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference, with Coach Ryan Goetzman saying despite the challenge of having a young squad, he feels they will be able to compete at a high level this spring.

Lady Pirates break open scoreless battle to beat Bulldogs 11-1. On April 7, Cardington-Lincoln scored four in the fourth and four more in the fifth, adding three in the seventh to coast to an 11-1 win over East Knox. Lady Jackets bomb two homers, shout out Generals 11-0. The Mount Vernon Lady Yellow Jackets ran their season record to 7-1 with a convincing 11-0 win over Wooster, April 7. Mount Vernon took control early with a three-run first and put it away with a five-run fifth to seal the deal against the Lady Generals.

Lady Pirates upset by Johnnies in bid to move on in play-offs. The dream season sloganed as “The Last Dance,” by head coach Jamie Edwards, for the Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates, is over. In mid-January, few would have figured that C-L would go one-and-done in the play-offs, but that was before a struggling three-week stretch of a half-dozen games, beginning with a January 17 loss to River Valley, which ended C-L’s 51-game regular season unbeaten streak. The Lady Pirates went 3-3 over those six games.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls basketball team was enjoying a dream season at 13-0, and 8-0 in KMAC play, and were ranked No. 2 in Division III by AP and No. 3 by MaxPreps. The Lady Pirates were on a 51-game regular season winning streak with 65-straight KMAC victories. Cardington-Lincoln entered the game after a rough week. After having five players out during the week with COVID, the team found out at 2 pm on game day that team-leader Dana Bertke was unavailable due to illness. An initial COVID test showed negative at the time, but according to C-L head coach Jamie Edwards, “She was definitely in no shape to play. And midway through the first half, Mikayla Linkous, another starter, was in the locker room throwing up."

No. 2-ranked Lady Pirates continue to roll, 57-35 over Trojans. The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates are ranked No. 2 in the AP poll for Ohio Div. III schools, and they played like it, Wednesday night at Centerburg, with a 57-35 victory. The win was the 51st consecutive regular-season win and 65th-straight KMAC victory for Cardington-Lincoln, which is 13-0 this season and 9-0 in KMAC. Centerburg fell to 1-11 on the season and 0-8 in KMAC.

Cardington-Lincoln rolls on with 73-48 win over East Knox. The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates victory train continues as C-L romped over East Knox, 73-48 on Jan. 8. The 25-point victory added to the Lady Pirates win streaks, which now sit at 12-0 this season and 8-0 in KMAC play, and run the C-L locomotive to 50 consecutive regular-season wins and 64 straight victories in KMAC.

The first Ohio Associated Press high school girls basketball poll of the 2021-22 season was announced Tuesday afternoon, January 4, and the Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates have been voted in at No. 3 among Div. III teams. MaxPreps has also conducted its rakings and has Cardington-Lincoln as No. 4 in Division III and No. 21 among all Ohio schools.

Cardington-Lincoln barely keeps streaks alive with 56-53 win at Northmor.The Cardington-Lincoln Lady Pirates entered play Wednesday night at Northmor, with a 10-0 season record, 48 straight regular season wins, 62 KMAC wins in a row and a No. 3 ranking in the current AP Division III poll. The dream season almost came crashing down, as a tough Northmor team kept plugging away before C-L prevailed, 56-53 to keep its streaks alive.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls basketball team continued its dominance with a 54-37 win over Mount Gilead on Dec. 22 to improve to 9-0 on the season. Getting douible-figures scoring from four players, C-L led from start to finish to keep this perfect season alive. The Lady Pirates led 15-10 lead one frame thanks to Kambry Edwards putting up five of her 12 points including a three pointer. After one half it was 32-16 Pirates, with Beth Hardwick hitting a pair of threes on her way to 10 total points. The Pirates went into the second half with confidence outscoring Mount Gilead 13-9, with Karsyn Edwards scoring five points. The final frame saw an Indians advantage of 11-9, but it was too little too late.

Beth Hardwick, Cardington-Lincoln’s top-scoring Lady Pirates basketball senior, conducted her college signing last Saturday before C-L’s match-up with Fredericktown. at Cardington-Lincoln High School. The senior student-athlete has signed to play her college basketball at Kentucky Christian University.
