Cardington-Lincoln High School

No. 9 Cardington-Lincoln (14-9, 8-4) kicked off the Division III Central 1 Sectional Tournament with a 46-34 win over No. 20 Columbus School for Girls (7-16, 1-13), with senior Abigail Hardwick leading the charge with 16 points.

The Knox Morrow Athletic Conference wrestling tournament took place last weekend at Northmor High School, with Elgin winning the title and the Northmor Golden Knights as this year’s runner up.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team had a 2-1 week, highlighted by a double-overtime win on the road against Buckeye Central on Feb. 8.

Warren Garrison had a huge week for the Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team, leading his team to a pair of wins and scoring at will with a hot hand from deep in record setting fashion. His strong play has awarded him a nod as Mount Vernon Athlete of the Week.

The Northmor Golden Knights have secured the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference Crown, and have been playing their best basketball of the season with seven straight wins.

The Mount Gilead girls' basketball team (10-9, 6-6) team came away with a key conference victory over Cardington-Lincoln (11-8, 8-4) on Jan. 30, with Faith White and Danielle Pohlkotte leading the charge in a 49-45 win.

Centerburg’s Kayla Larimore has been the top scorer in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference for most of the season, and on Jan. 26 she led all scorers with 19 points in a huge 41-32 win over Cardington-Lincoln (11-7, 8-3).

The KMAC leading Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team (10-6, 7-2) had a busy week with three conference matchups. While they beat Northmor (6-11, 2-8) and Danville (11-6, 6-4), the Pirates couldn’t get past Centerburg (10-3, 6-2), who is now within striking distance of the conference lead.

Kayla Larimore once again paced the offense for the Centerburg girls’ basketball team, putting up 19 points to beat the KMAC leading Cardington-Lincoln Pirates 52-44 in front of a home crowd.

Cardington-Lincoln (9-3, 5-1) bounced back from a tough loss with a solid 81-59 win over Mount Gilead (3-7, 1-4), putting the boys’ basketball team in a tie for first in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference with Northmor.

Cardington-Lincoln took over sole possession of first place in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference with a key win over Danville, making it three straight wins.

Trevin Harris and Grayson Reynolds combined for 48 points, leading the Centerburg boys’ basketball team to a 69-62 win over Cardington-Lincoln on Jan. 13.

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team had four players in double figures in a 77-43 rout of Loudonville on Jan. 8.

Abigail Hardwick had a stat sheet stuffing night for the Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team (8-5, 5-1), putting up a huge third quarter to lead the Pirates to a 62-57 comeback win over KMAC rival Fredericktown (5-6, 2-4) on Jan. 9.

In what was a see-saw battle between two tough KMAC rivals, Cardington-Lincoln (7-5, 4-1) put together a come-from-behind 40-39 win over Mount Gilead (6-5, 4-2), led by Jill Bertke with 15 points.

AJ Hall was the hero for Cardington-Lincoln (7-2, 4-0), making an and-one play to secure a 51-49 win over Northmor (7-4, 3-1) with less than a minute on the clock. The win gives the Pirates sole possession of first place in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference.

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team beat the Highland Fighting Scots (1-7, 0-5) 64-46 on Dec. 30, with the duo of AJ Hall and Warren Garrison providing some fire power from three point land in a huge second half.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team (5-4, 3-1) to their second straight win, knocking off KMAC rival East Knox (3-6, 1-3) 61-31 on Dec. 20 thanks to some dominant work on defense.

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team (5-1, 3-0) bounced back with a 63-43 win over KMAC rival Danville (1-7, 0-3) on Dec. 22, making it five wins in six games to start the season for the Pirates.

The Cardington-Lincoln girls’ basketball team (4-4, 2-1) beat Northmor (1-6, 0-4) 56-24 to get above .500 in KMAC play, in a game led by Abigail Hardwick and Kinstin Henthorn who each reached double figures in scoring.
