McClure's double-double leads Pirates to blowout win over Redbirds

The Cardington-Lincoln boys’ basketball team (8-2, 4-0) had four players in double figures, led by a double-double for Merek McClure in a 77-43 rout of Loudonville (3-8, 0-3) on Jan. 8.

The Pirates led 20-10 after one quarter, and continued to outscore the Redbirds in the second quarter 16-13 to go up 36-23 at halftime. Cardington-Lincoln never took their foot off the gas pedal, outscoring Loudonville 23-14 and 18-6 in the final two quarters to take a commanding win for their third straight victory.

McClure dominated the boards and got into double figures in scoring with a double-double line of 12 points and 12 boards. He also had two blocks, two steals and an assist in the win. Warren Garrison led all scorers with 14 points to go with his three rebounds and two steals. AJ Brehm had 13 points, six boards, one assist and one steal. Journey Williamson also hit double figures with 10 points, including a pair of threes.

AJ Hall had a solid all-around night with seven points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kalin Briggs had seven points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Loudonville was led by Judah Layton with 12 points, including two makes from downtown. Dakotah Shook put up 11 points, which included a three in the second quarter.
