Cardington-Lincoln 2, North Pickerington 1

Cardington-Lincoln 2, Bellevue 1

Cardington-Lincoln improved to 12-3 and remained 7-0 in KMAC play with a weekend sweep over Pickerington North, and Bellevue, taking both matches in three sets.

The Lady Pirates volleyball team beat Pickerington North, 2- 1, by set scores of 25-14, 15-25, 27-25, and they came back to knock off Bellevue, 3-1 by set scores of 20-25, 25-15, 25-21.

C-L volleyball coach Ryan Treese said it was a good day of competition for the Lady Pirates. “We finally got the D-I win we were looking for this season,” Treese said. “Pick North is a solid team and we had a pretty balanced attack across the board in both matches and Izzy Wickline had 11 kills against Pick North. We have improved our serving and that has changed our offense too.”

That assertion was proven on the stat sheet. Against Pickerington North, Cardington served in 62 of 63 attempts, with six players serving at 100 percent. C-L clicked on eight service aces, including three by Jadine Mills. And against Bellvue, the Lady Pirates were 100 percent from the back line in 72 attempts with three aces.

In the Pick North match, Audrey Brininger had 13 kills, Wickline was above the net for flour blocks, Cadie Long was successful on all 17 dig attempts, Payton Goodman had 14 and Brininger had 13, and Miils finished with all 33 of C-L’s assists.

Against Bellvue, in addition to Wickline’s 11 kills, Brininger had 11 and Goodman had nine. C-L also had five blocks including two each from Mills and Alexis Crone. Long had two digs and Mills finished with 38 assists.

 

Centerburg 3, Columbus Academy 0

Centerburg 3, Tree of Life 0

Centerburg swept a pair of matches last weekend, taking down both Columbus Academy and Tree of Life by 3-0 scores. Centerburg bested CA 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 and chopped down TOL 25-21, 25-20, 25-10. The sweep improved the Lady Trojans record to 13-2 and they remained 7-1 in KMAC play. Columbus Academy is 7-6, 4-3 Mid-State Ohio, and Tree of Life is 6-7, 3-2 in Mid-Ohio Christian. Centerburg extended thwir winniong atreak for five matches.


Highland 3, Marion Pleasant 0

The third-ranked (D-II) Highland Scots (15-1, 9-0, D2 -- No. 3) visited the new gym at Pleasant Thursday and won 3-0, by set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-11. Marion Pleasant is currently 8-8 and 4-5 in MOAC play.

The first set saw the Scots jump out 6-0, extend that to 20-6 and cruise 25-12. Brooke Schott had four kills and two aces in the set. In the second set, both teams battled early as the Scots maintained a 2- to 4-point lead most of the way until they pulled away at the end, outscoring the Spartans 8-2 at the end of the frame. Larsen Terrill had five Aces and Kameron Stover had five kills in the set. In the thirrd set, the Scots came out fast, forcing a Pleasant time-out at 9-3 and increased that lead to 16-6, as they ran away with the set and the match.

Leaders on the stat sheet included Brooke Schott with nine kills and three aces, Larsen Terrill with five aces, 29 assists and five kills, Kameron Stover with 11 kills, Zoya Winkelfoos with eight kills and seven assists, Alexis Eusey with three blocks, Camryn Miller with18 Ddgs, and Mia Stanco with five Kills.

Utica 3, Granville Christian 0

Utica improved to 5-10 and 3-6 in LCL play, sweeping Granville Christian (0-10 and 0-7 in Mid-Ohio Christian) 3-0, Sept. 24, by set scores of 25-18, 25-10, 25-4.

Stat sheet leaders for the Redskins included Abby Buchanan - eight kills; Carlie Parsons - seven kills, seven aces, eight digs; Emilee Ellis - six kills, three aces, 15 assists, 10 digs; Emma Kimpel - four kills, one ace, three digs; Ellie Boggs - three kills, two aces, three digs; Lauren Schmitt - two kills; Alexa Gosnell - two aces, 11 assists; Aubrey Hughes - three aces, six digs and Lexi Wiegand - eight digs.
