Cardington-Lincoln 3, Centerburg 0
In a battle of the KMAC unbeatens on Sept. 13, Cardington-Lincoln, 8-3 overall and 5-0 in KMAC, swept Centerburg (8-2, 4-1) by set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 to take over first place in the first round of KMAC competition.
Lady Pirates volleyball coach Ryan Treese said the result and team effort were a great bounce-back match against a tough Centerburg team, following a tough five-set loss last weekend to Colonel Crawford.
“We played some clean volleyball at times, with great energy through all three sets,” Treese said. “We had a very efficient match led by Audrey Brininger with 16 kills. Alexis Crone had a great match with nine kills and three solo blocks. Jadine Mills shared the wealth of sets amazingly setting up all 41 team assists.”
In addition, Cadie Long shined with 17 digs.
“We didn't have a lot of aces [five], but our serving, at 91.5% was some of the better serving we had all year,” Treese said.
In the JV match, Centerburg gave the Pirates their first loss of the season, dropping them to 7-1.
