Cardington-Lincoln 3, East Knox 0

Cardington-Lincoln, 15-3, 10-0 in KMAC, topped East Knox (5-12, 1-8), 3-0, by set scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-13, on Oct. 4. 

Audrey Brininger continued her attacks for the Lady Lions with 14 kills, and Izzy Wickline added 11, with Payton Goodman getting nine kills. Goodman was also a killer at the service line with five aces and a 100% service rate. Alexis Crone also served five aces. 

On defense, Wickline had three blocks (two solos), Lily Clark had 16 digs and Goodman was in the middle for 11 digs. Jadine Mills set up 35 assists for C-L.

 

Mount Vernon 3, Madison Comprehensive 1

The Mount Vernon Lady Yellow Jackets improved to 10-7 overall and 7-6 in Ohio Cardinal Conference play with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over visiting Madison Comprehensive (5-14, 13-10), Oct. 4. The set scores were 20-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16.

 After dropping a tense first set, the Lady Jackets responded with an equally tight victory in the second set, then gained the momentum to cruise in sets three and four.

Kills were about even, with MV taking a 39-37 advantage, led by Peyja McCord’s 11 kills, Emma Dean’s 10 and Jurnie Gleason’s nine. The Jackets out-aced the Rams 8-6, paced by McCord’s three. Katie King and Dean each served two as Mount Vernon served at a 96.6% success rate. Blocks were even at four apiece for the teams, with MV’s Dean being in on a pair. Tori Burdette was a force in the middle with 36 assists, and Madi Rohler led the defense with 18 digs. Burdette contributed nine digs, as did Maia Tazewell.
