Cardington-Lincoln 3, Mount Gilead 0

Cardington-Lincoln (19-3, 12-0) remained undefeated in KMAC play with a 3-0 win over Mount Gilead (2-14, 0-9), Oct. 11, by set scores of 25-11, 25-5, 25-8. Everything went right from the get-go for the Lady Pirates, who cruised in all three sets. C-L gave the entire squad playing time and rested their regulars, Stat leaders included Audrey Brininger – nine kills as nine Lady Pirates saw kiil action. Serving at a 91.5% success rate, C-L launched 18 aces, with Payton Goodman serving nine in only 27 attempts and Jadine Mills served five aces in 11 serves. Izzy Wickline had two blocks for C-L and nine players divided 47 digs, led by Cadie Long’s 11. Mills added 28 assists to the attack.

 

Fredericktown 3, Centerburg 1

Fredericktown (16-5, 9-3) and Centerburg (15-5, 9-3) squared off Tuesday in a battle of powerhouses and the Freddies brought its home crowd a 3-1 win, 25-17, 16-25, 25-12, 25-16, faltering only in the second set of a strong performance night. The Lady Freddies attacked for 33 kills, paced by Grace Sipes with nine, Jillian Bouton with eight and Mya Bryant with eight. Five players served aces – seven total aces and the team had a 93.3% success rate. Bryant was at the net for three blocks and as the Freddies made 60 digs, Sipes finished with 17 and Taylor Bryant made 10. Julia Partington aided the attack with 30 assists.

 

Mount Vernon 3, Westerville Central 1

The Mount Vernon Lady Jackets (12-9, 7-7) came from a set down and won their second straight by besting Westerville Central (13-8, 6-3) by a 3-1 count, Tuesday, 24-26, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17. After dropping a thrilling overtime set 26-24, the Lady Jackets grinded out a tough second set and then cruised the final two sets to close out the win. Attacking for 49 kills, Mount Vernon had 12 kills from Kaitlyn Thompson and 11 from Peyja McCord. Emma Dean was strong at the net with nine kills and four blocks, and Madi Rohler was tough in the middle with 18 of the team’s 52 digs from 10 different players. Tori Burdette set up all of MV’s 40 assists.

 

Galion 3, Highland 2

Highland (18-3, 12-1) saw its 10-year conference winning streak end at the hands of Galion (18-2, 13-1) in a five-set thriller on the Tigers’ home court, 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 25-22, 15-11. The Tigers gained a season split with the Scots, ending a 136-match conference-winning streak (2nd in Ohio Volleyball history behind Dublin Coffman's 145-match streak) dating back to October 2012. The Scots defeated Buckeye Valley on October 11, 2012 and started their 10-year streak. The battle was fierce with neither team yielding. The Tigers came from a set down to force the tie-breaker. Highland saw top performances from Kameron Stover - 32 kills and 15 digs; Larsen Terrill - 49 assists, 19 digs and 10 kills; Camryn Miller-  33-for-33 in serve receptions and 16 digs; Zoya Winkelfoos -17 digs and seven kills and Brooke Schott with eight kills and six blocks.

The Lady Scots bounced back for a 3-0 win over Clear Fork the following night, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14.
