The Centerburg High School Drama Department will perform You Can’t Take It with You on Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m., with a final matinee on Sunday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m. The production will take place at the Centerburg High School auditorium, located at 3782 Columbus Road.
This classic comedy, written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, explores themes of individuality, family, and happiness. Tickets are priced at $8 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. They will be available for purchase at the door one hour before each show, with general admission seating. Due to references to adult themes and language, the play may not be suitable for young children.
Set in 1930s New York, the play follows the eccentric Sycamore family and the affluent Kirby family. When the two families come together for dinner, the evening spirals into comedic chaos, misunderstandings, and a heartwarming lesson on personal freedom.
The Sycamore family includes seniors Victoria Browning and Ashley Moore, juniors Layke Burke and Molly Hartman, and sophomores Logan Brison and Myka Wennell. The Kirby family will be portrayed by juniors Rigby Arter and Asher Kennedy, along with sophomore Gwennan Ellis. Additional cast members include students from various grade levels, with 8th grader Analise Hernandez-Beltran joining the ensemble. Behind the scenes, stage and tech crews are led by juniors Seth Osborne-Churchill, Emma Parsisson, and HayLee Plakis, along with a team of dedicated underclassmen.
