Experience Mount Vernon announced a series of community events for June, including the introduction of the First Friday Passport to Fun for children. Beginning at the June First Friday event, kids 12 and under can pick up a free passport at the Experience Mount Vernon information table on Public Square and complete activities to earn a stamp for June. Each stamp provides an entry into a monthly prize drawing, and those who collect all four stamps during the season will be entered to win the First Friday grand prize.

Registration is now open for exhibitors interested in participating in upcoming First Friday events. The organization said that registration deadlines are as follows: July registration closes June 3, August registration closes July 7, and September registration closes August 5.

Experience Mount Vernon also highlighted opportunities for community members and organizations to support downtown events by becoming sponsors or investors for 2026. Pole banner sponsorship packages are available as another way to promote local organizations.

The featured event for June is "June First Friday: Shake, Rattle & Roll Downtown," scheduled for Friday, June 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event will have a rock-and-roll theme inspired by the 1950s with retro music and activities throughout Downtown Mount Vernon. Other scheduled events include an author event at Paragraphs Bookstore on June 5, the Mount Vernon Farmers Market every Saturday from May through October at Public Square, a summer concert featuring the Mount Vernon Community Band on Sunday, June 7 at Ariel Foundation Park with free admission, Nellie Open Mic Nights on June 11 and June 25 at Happy Street Bru Werks, Hellbender Discovery Day on Saturday, June 13 at Ariel-Foundation Park (free event), Six Miles to Nellie performing at Happy Street Bru Werks on June 13, Summer Front Porch Concerts on Saturday, June 19 in the East High Street Neighborhood, and a Summer Kickoff with The Jayhawks on Friday, June 19 at Schnormeier Event Center in Ariel-Foundation Park.
