Reagan Frazee, a 10th-grade student at Mount Vernon High School, has qualified for the USA Gymnastics Women’s Development Program Eastern Championships, set to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina May 2-5.
The event is a three-day competition for Level 9 athletes (Level 10 being the highest). The top seven All-Around athletes in each of the 16 age divisions from each of the four regions will compete as Regional Team members. Participating athletes will compete for All-Around, individual event and Regional Team titles.
Frazee trains four hours per day, Monday through Friday, and is an honor student with a 4.0 GPA. She attends Gym X-Treme in Lewis Center, Ohio, and has been for the past 13 years.
Earlier this year, Frazee received first place All-Around for the Ohio State USAG meet and qualified for regionals. She also received second place at the Regional Meet in Lexington, Kentucky.
Frazee hopes to have two years as a Level 10 gymnast when she enters college.
"My dream is to be a college gymnast and continue doing what I love in college," she said.
Frazee said her favorite subject is geometry and she hopes to be a pediatric physical therapist in the future.
She also gives credit to her support system.
"My coaches, teammates and family are wonderful and I couldn't do any of this without any of them," Frazee said.
