Logan Eggert put together a fantastic performance at last Saturday’s Fredericktown Invite, winning both the 800 meters and the 1600 metes, and also being part of the meet record setting 4x400 meter relay team.

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets continue what has been a solid track and field season, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams taking first at the Fredericktown Invitational on April 26.

The Madison Comprehensive softball team blew out Columbian and then beat Mount Vernon in back-to-back conference matchups to make it six straight wins for the Rams. The wins brought them to 11-7 overall, and 4-3 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.

Mount Vernon improved to 13-3 on the season, with the Yellow Jackets beating the Madison Comprehensive Rams in back-to-back days this week. This was the 10th straight win for the hot Mount Vernon squad, who are now 8-2 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference, good for second.

Reagan Frazee, a 10th-grade student at Mount Vernon High School, has qualified for the USA Gymnastics Women’s Development Program Eastern Championships, set to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina May 2-5.

The Mount Vernon girls’ track and field team won the Sara Robinson Relays at Lakewood on April 19, and the boys’ team was the runner up, with three school records being broken in the meet.

Mount Vernon hosted a dual meet with Ohio Cardinal Conference rival Mansfield Senior on April 16, and both the girls’ and boys’ track and field teams came out on top for the win.

Hailey Rudrick was a beast at the plate for the Mount Vernon softball team in an 18-3 win over OCC rival Ashland on April 15, going yard three times and knocking in seven runs to lead the Yellow Jackets.

​Konner Daughriety showed off his power and pitching prowess against Wooster, as he led the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets to their sixth straight win to put them at an inmpressive 9-3. Wooster's two game slide put them at 5-2 after starting off the season with five straight victories.

Mount Vernon senior Marissa Rutter has had an outstanding season running track for the Yellow Jackets, and last week she was a huge part of the third place finish at the Hank Smith Invitational with two golds, a silver and a bronze medal.

The Mount Vernon track and field teams fared well at the Hank Smith Invitational on April 13, with both placing third out of 20 teams and Marissa Rutter pacing the way with two golds and a silver in the meet.

The Ashland Arrows had three tight wins on the baseball diamond last week, highlighted by a pair of Ohio Cardinal Conference wins over Mount Vernon.

The Mount Vernon track and field teams competed at the Berlin Invitational on April 5, with the girls’ team placing third and the boys’ team in fifth out of eight teams.

Marissa Rutter had a huge day for the Mount Vernon girls’ track and field team at the Newark Invitational on March 30, winning the 300 meter hurdles with a personal record and barely missing her PR in the 100 meter hurdles.
