Kids of all ages traveled to Camp Ohio for the Disney-themed Licking County 4-H Camp, participating in a variety of activities over the course of four days.
While the week's heat and humidity were not the worst seen this summer, they were definitely warmer than comfortable during the camp.
Counselors moved in on Tuesday afternoon to wrap up training and prepare their assigned cabins for the campers’ move-in on the following morning.
On day one, campers participated in the first of the sessions they had registered for, including creeking, crafting, and zip lining.
Many of these sessions were led and supervised by counselors, while Camp Ohio staff handled activities like high ropes and zip lining.
After splitting off for their chosen sessions, campers reunited for the evening activity, “Snow White and the Seven Activities,” designed to help them get to know their peers, counselors, and adult staff.
The next day included more of the selected sessions in the morning and water games in the afternoon. Counselors and campers alike enjoyed the summer sun by participating in sponge dodgeball, “Dunk-A-Counselor,” and various other water games.
The evening was capped off with a carnival, featuring a dunk tank, a popcorn machine, and carnival games.
On the final full day, for the first time in many years, the campers made the hike to the designated cookout area to enjoy a fire-roasted lunch with their meal table.
The afternoon also featured an opportunity to swim in the camp pool, which was unavailable for use last year.
Camp concluded with a dance and a ceremony honoring the senior counselors for their dedication to 4-H.
