Ohio Goes to the Movies: Bye Bye Birdie Screening

Celebrate Ohio’s cinematic heritage at the free ticketed screening of Bye Bye Birdie on July 26, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Ariel-Foundation Park in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Presented by America 250 and the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau, this special event is part of the statewide Ohio Goes to the Movies initiative, featuring more than 250 screenings across Ohio. The beloved musical is set in the fictional town of Sweet Apple, Ohio, and stars Broadway and film legend Paul Lynde, a Mount Vernon native. The screening honors Ohio’s lasting contributions to filmmaking and storytelling while celebrating local connections to the entertainment industry. Admission is free, offering families and movie lovers an enjoyable community experience for all ages.

Knox County Fair

Experience five days of family fun and exciting entertainment at the Knox County Fair from July 26–30, 2026. The fair features something for everyone, including thrilling rides, livestock exhibits, delicious fair food, local vendors, and a variety of grandstand events. Highlights include Sunday’s Truck and Tractor Pulls, Monday’s Harness Racing and Wiener Dog Races, Tuesday’s Diamond J Rodeo followed by live music from Luke Watson, Wednesday’s Rough Truck and SXS Racing, and Thursday’s action-packed Demolition Derby. Held at The Energy Cooperative Grandstand, each event is supported by local sponsors and showcases the spirit of the community. Bring the whole family and enjoy one of Knox County’s favorite annual summer traditions with unforgettable memories for visitors of all ages.
