Two people were killed in separate crashes in Knox County over the holiday weekend, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Mount Gilead Post.
The first crash occurred at 6:19 p.m. Saturday, July 4, on Croton Road near White Road in Hilliar Township.
Investigators said Alexander Ocampo-Sanchez, 18, of Columbus, was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 northbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A juvenile passenger from Westerville was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, and investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office, Delaware County EMS, Central Ohio Fire/EMS, Berkshire-Sunbury-Trenton-Galena Fire/EMS and the Knox County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
The second fatal crash occurred at 1:22 a.m. Sunday, July 5, on Knox Lake Road near State Route 95 in Berlin Township.
Authorities said Steven D. Miller Jr., 38, of Mount Vernon, was riding a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 northbound when the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway. Miller was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a stationary object. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner.
Miller was wearing a helmet, and investigators said alcohol or drugs are not believed to have contributed to the crash.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office, Fredericktown Fire/EMS, and the Knox County Coroner assisted at the scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
