Frederick Richard “Dick” Heffelfinger, 93, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on July 6, 1930, in Mount Vernon, the son of Fred and Grace (Welsh) Heffelfinger.

Micheal Steven Sigman Sr., born on June 1, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at the age of 75.

Emily Pauline Veatch, 97 of Newark, passed away on June 8, 2024 at her residence. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Danville, Ohio to the late Dale and Edith (Reed) Alexander.

I am writing in response to a Letter to the Editor that recently ran in the Mount Vernon News. It is just one of the latest examples of misinformation being spread by a small, but vocal minority about the Frasier Solar project in Knox County.

Janet Alice (Harvey) Graddick, age 79, passed away under hospice care in Chicago, Illinois, on April 24, 2024.

This letter is in support of the 120 MW Frasier Solar Project in Knox County. Since the passage of SB52, many Ohio counties are vetoing utility-scale renewable projects.

On May 27, 2024, Shawn Kirkhart of Delaware, OH lost his four-year battle with colon cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Shawn was a loving husband and devoted father who always enjoyed creating memories for all who knew and loved him.

Dale Leroy Hans, 91, of Howard, OH, passed away May 20, 2024, at Knox Community Hospital, in Mount Vernon, OH.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce that Joshua James Kirby, 47, died on April 9, 2024, at home surrounded by the comfort and love of his wife, sons, and family after two years of a heroic battle with a rare brain cancer. What happened to Josh is tragic, but he is not a tragedy.
