The banners honoring the 14 young men killed in Vietnam from Knox County are displayed on South Main Street in Mount Vernon. Please honor and respect these men and their families, for their sacrifice! Please pay your respect for all who have served.

I'm asking for your help and suggestions. The banners of these 14 young men from Knox County killed in Vietnam are being displayed this year. My feelings and belief is their banners need to be displayed in the years 2025 and 2026.

Making, displaying, taking down, and storing of all banners is the responsibility of Experience Mount Vernon. The board of Experience Mount Vernon has a policy that reserving spaces for future years will not be allowed or accepted.

The banners of the 14 killed in Vietnam are not standard or ordinary banners. These banners have families, friends, classmates, and loved ones who still live in Knox County.

What I'm asking, go to experiencemv.org/emvboard, you will find pictures of the board members. Please contact all the board members and ask that they allow the banners of the 14 killed in Vietnam to be displayed the month of Memorial Day 2025 and 2026.

Lacy Lilkens is the only employee of Experience Mount Vernon. She does not set policy or rules. Please, do not contact her or call her. Please contact board members only!

Fair warning! When we are allowed to reserve the years 2025 and 2026 for the banners, I will be asking you for financial assistance.
