West Holmes was well represented in the Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC) accolades, as they had the player of the year in Keegan Uhl, coach of the year with Lindsy Belden and four others selected for All-OCC.

West Holmes (13-5, 10-1) moved into a tie for first place in the Ohio Cardinal Conference with a key win over OCC leading Mansfield Senior (17-2 11-1), which followed conference wins against Wooster (4-13, 3-7) and New Philadelphia (3-15, 1-9) last week.

The Freddie Invite was held on Jan. 13 with 22 teams competing, and New Philadelphia came away with the top spot with a score of 285.

The Division III All-Ohio football team was announced on Dec. 6 and a number of Mount Vernon News coverage area athletes were selected, with New Philadelphia leading the way with nine honorees.

The Ohio Cardinal Conference released their All-Conference selections and individual awards. The conference consists of high schools from Mount Vernon, Ashland, Lexington, Madison Comprehensive, Mansfield Senior, New Philadelphia, West Holmes and Wooster.

No. 4 Mansfield Senior (10-3, 7-0) had the daunting task of facing undefeated No. 1 Central Catholic (13-0, 7-0), and the Irish did what they’ve done now for 28 straight games, beating the Tygers 41-10 in the regional semifinals of the Division III, Region 10 tournament

It was a night of milestones and records for Mansfield Senior, with Amarr Davis setting the school receiving touchdown record, and Duke Reese throwing his 4,000th yard in a 55-21 regional quarterfinal win over Rocky River (10-2, 5-0) on Nov. 3.

No. 4 Mansfield Senior (10-2, 8-0) beat OCC rival No. 13 Lexington (5-6, 4-3) 30-13 in the opening round of the Division III, Region 10 football tournament, and it was a milestone night for receiver Amarr Davis who caught his 20th career touchdown pass tying the school record.

Mansfield (9-2, 8-0) Senior Coach Chioke Bradley picked up his 100th career win with a 34-0 rout of Madison Comprehensive (1-9, 1-6) on Oct. 20, which also clinched sole possession of the OCC title.

Mount Vernon hosts Mansfield Senior in OCC football action on Friday night.

The Mansfield Senior Tygers (6-2, 5-0) ran all over Wooster (2-6, 1-5) last week and scored 25 unanswered points in the second half to take a 35-7 win over the Generals. It was the fifth straight win for the Tygers who are first in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.
