Mount Vernon boys and girls track beat Mansfield Senior in dual meet

Mount Vernon hosted a dual meet with Ohio Cardinal Conference rival Mansfield Senior on April 16, and both the girls’ and boys’ track and field teams came out on top for the win.

Boys results (top 3)

100 meters: Tre Fowler of Mansfield Senior took first in the race with a time of 11.96. Cole Wilson and Sami Lacksonen were second and third with respective times of 12.13 and 12.19.

200 meters: Mansfield Senior’s Syncere Long was first in the 200 meters with a time of 23.80. Fowler was second with a time of 24.24 and Thomas Sant of Mount Vernon clocked in at 24.96 for third.

400 meters: Mount Vernon’s Brady Wiles was first in the 400 meters with a time of 53.81, and Ayden Kennedy and Jalen Kirkbride of Mount Vernon were second and third with times of 56.17 and 56.84.

800 meters: Owen Petrie of Mount Vernon took first place with a time of 2:30.19. Mansfield Senior’s Brayden Shephard was second with a time of 2:33.42, and Tyree Skelton of Mount Vernon took third with a time of 2:33.81.

1600 meters: Gavin Camak of Mansfield Senior was first with a time of 5:19.56. Gavin Andrews and Joey Butts of Mount Vernon were second and third, clocking in at 5:20.28 and 5:27.30.

3200 meters: Wiles and Max Weeks of Mansfield Senior were the only runners in the 3200 meters, with Wiles taking first with a time of 12:46.04 and Weeks second at 12:48.08.

110 meter hurdles: Ethan Conant of Mount Vernon was the lone competitor in the 110 meter hurdles, clocking in at 18.35.

4x100 meters: Mount Vernon’s team of Sami Lacksonen, Kalman Kanuckel, Ethan Conant and Carter Thompson clocked in at 48.02.

4x200 meters: Mansfield Senior’s relay team had a time of 1:50.58.

4x400 meters: Mount Vernon’s team consisting of Gavin Andrews, Joey Butts, Jared Boucher and Michael Minton clocked in at 4:17.35.

4x800 meters: Mansfield Senior clocked in at 11:26.62.

Shot put: Dakota Wagner of Mount Vernon took first with a toss of 42 feet, two inches. Carmelo Smith of Mansfield Senior was second with a toss of 36 feet, 6.75 inches and Colin Hoffman of the Yellow Jackets took third with a toss of 34 feet, 8.25 inches.

Discus: Luke Mullins of Mount Vernon won the discus with a throw of 145 feet, six inches. Wagoner of Mount Vernon took second with a distance of 122 feet, 8.5 inches, and Mansfield Senior’s Smith was third with a toss of 108 feet, 10 inches.

High jump: Austin May and Tyree Skelton of Mount Vernon both head leads of five feet, two inches.

Pole vault: Mount Vernon’s Ben Fitzpatrick had a leap of nine feet, six inches for the win. Wiles and Conant of Mount Vernon each had a height of eight feet.

Long jump: Darrin Monahan of Mount Vernon had a distance of 18 feet, 3.25 inches for first place. Mount Vernon’s Lacksonen was second with a distance of 18 feet, two inches, and Long of Mansfield Senior was third at 17 feet, 11.25 inches.

Girls results (top 3)

100 meters: Mount Vernon swept the top three spots with Amaris Middleton in first at 13.26, Nadia Nougi in second at 13.59 and Savannah Rose in third at 13.90.

200 meters: Mount Vernon swept the 200 meters in the same order with Middleton at 26.66, Nougi at 27.22 and Rose at 28.30.

400 meters: Claire Basilon of Mansfield Senior was first with a time of 1:11.19. Mount Vernon’s Taylor Couch took second with a time of 1:15.13 and Autumn Tenney, also of the Yellow Jackets, clocked in at 1:16.99 for third.

800 meters: Amanda Misarti of Mount Vernon was first with a time of 3:08.16, Cora Andrews took second at 3:18.18 and Joslin Frazer was third with a time of 3:56.84, with both runners also from Mount Vernon.

1600 meters: Tilia Ames of Mansfield Senior was first with a time of 6:25.29 and Frazer of Mount Vernon was second with a time of 8:11.53.

3200 meters: Megan Packard of Mount Vernon was first with a time of 14:09.01 and Addison Barber, also a Yellow Jacket, was second with a time of 14:19.33.

100 meter hurdles: Ta’Neyah Hammock of Mansfield Senior took the top spot with a time of 17.21. Mount Vernon’s Cora Rickett was second at 18.95 and Grace Humphrey of Mount Vernon was third at 19.94.

300 meter hurdles: Rickett was first with a time of 54.77, Charlotte Smith of Mount Vernon was second with a time of 57.39 and Zoey Morrison of Mount Vernon took third with a time of 58.84.

4x100 meters: Mount Vernon’s team of Alex Hall, Cameron Carlson, Mahayley Laverick and Arianne Scott was the only team, clocking in at 1:01.01.

4x200 meters: Mansfield Senior had a time of 1:56.79 for first place. Mount Vernon had two teams race. The team consisting of Makayla Pugh, Zeva Sheets, Mahayley Laverick and Kendall Goeppinger was second with a time of 2:05.93. The third place team had a time of 2:08.78, and included Rickett, Kassi Eggert, Grace Humphrey and Autumn Tenney.

4x400 meters: Mount Vernon’s team of Cora Andrews, Joslin Frazer, Amanda Misarti and Addison Barber had a time of 5:52.39.

Shot put: Haylie Watts of Mount Vernon had a toss of 26 feet, 10 inches to take the win. Mount Vernon’s Grace Hauke was second with a distance of 26 feet, 7.25 inches, and fellow Yellow Jacket Hailey Clayton was third with a toss of 24 feet, 11 inches.

Discus: Mount Vernon had a sweep led by Quinn Hardy with a toss of 90 feet, seven inches, followed by Madeline Springer at 87 feet, three inches, and Hauke at 77 feet, 10 inches.

High jump: Mount Vernon’s Rickett had a height of four feet, four inches for first place. Elizabeth Lebold and Kjadiah Ndow of Mount Vernon each had leaps of four feet, two inches.

Pole vault: Mount Vernon also had the sweep in pole vault. Bailey Thayer of Mount Vernon took first with a height of nine feet. Rose was second at eight feet, six inches, and Lebold took third at seven feet, six inches.

Long jump: Couch of Mount Vernon took first with a leap of 14 feet, 0.75 inches. Hammock of Mansfield Senior was second with a distance of 13 feet, 10 inches, and Mount Vernon’s Lebold was third at 13 feet, 5.75 inches.
