Tygers use big rushing attack to crush Wooster 35-7

The Mansfield Senior Tygers (6-2, 5-0) ran all over Wooster (2-6, 1-5) last week and scored 25 unanswered points in the second half to take a 35-7 win over the Generals. It was the fifth straight win for the Tygers who are first in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.

Mansfield Senior marched down the field in the first quarter but settled for a a 20-yard field goal. Wooster took a 7-3 lead with two minutes left in first quarter on a Julian Franklin rushing touchdown from five yards out. With about a minute left to go in the second quarter Duke Reese hit Nate Dismuke for a 44-yard touchdown pass and it was a 10-7 game at halftime.

With three minutes left in the third quarter, Reese ran it in from 18 yards to go up 17-7. They added two points on a Safety to go up 19-7 quickly after. The Tygers followed with a 38-yard field goal to make it 22-7 and in the fourth quarter Reese connected with Elias Owens for a five-yard touchdown pass to go up 29-7. Zyion Brown finished the scoring with a 48-yard rushing touchdown to secure the win.

Brown had 69 rushing yards to lead the charge. Jamir Petty had 62 yards on the ground and Reese ran for 67 yards.

Reese was 11-for-19 passing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Dismuke was the leading receiver with five catches for 81 yards. On defense for the Tygers, Symirr Phillips and Maurice Bradley II had 2.5 sacks each.
