Brown and Nuss earn AVCA honors; Brown named Freshman of the Year

Evelyn Brown, Women’s Volleyball | MVNU

Evelyn Brown and Reagan Nuss from Mount Vernon Nazarene University's women's volleyball team have received All-American Honorable Mention status from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Brown, a freshman from Canal Winchester, Ohio, was also named AVCA Freshman of the Year. Her season included setting a school record with a .417 hitting percentage and earning titles such as AVCA All-Regional Freshman of the Year and Crossroads League Freshman of the Year. She averaged 2.76 kills per set.

Nuss, a senior setter from Brownstown, Indiana, concluded her career with her first All-American nod. She achieved honorable mention recognition by averaging 9.79 assists per set, totaling 1,234 assists this season along with 88 kills and a .321 hitting percentage. Defensively, she collected 351 digs.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is an evangelical Christian liberal arts institution affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. It serves students from various regions including Ohio and West Virginia and offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in disciplines like nursing and education. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is part of the Crossroads League.
