Middle school athletes interested in enhancing their softball skills and engaging with the Mount Vernon program now have an opportunity to do so.
According to MV Club Softball, a series of open field sessions will be held this August for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. These free training opportunities are scheduled for August 3, 10, 24, and 31, each running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sessions aim to introduce younger players to the sport in a supportive environment focused on skill-building.
All participants must complete a required participation form before attending. Registration can be completed online at the provided link.
"These open fields are all about development, confidence, and giving our future high school athletes a jumpstart," said one of the program’s coordinators. "It’s a great opportunity for middle school girls to learn the game, make connections, and begin understanding what Jacket softball is all about."
Players are encouraged to bring their glove, plenty of water, and a positive attitude. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and play.
With a strong tradition of excellence and community support, Mount Vernon’s softball program is laying the foundation early for future success. The MV Club hopes these open fields help players grow both on and off the diamond.
