Abi Sapp achieved a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate on Friday as the Danville Varsity Blue Devils decisively defeated the Mt. Gilead Varsity Indians, 21-0.

According to reports, Danville seized control of the game with a remarkable 16-run second inning. This offensive surge included timely hits and walks, featuring singles by Alicia Humphrey, Taylor Johnston, Riley Johnston, and Addy Bocock. Merista Brown contributed with two doubles, while several players reached base through walks or being hit by pitches.

The Blue Devils initiated their scoring in the first inning when Sapp singled, followed by walks from Taylor Meade and Johnston, each resulting in a run. They extended their lead with two additional runs in the third inning on a double by Bocock down the left-field line.

Humphrey secured the win on the mound for Danville, allowing no hits or runs over two and one-third innings while recording three strikeouts and three walks. Kylie Rigdon was charged with the loss for Mt. Gilead after surrendering three runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings and issuing five walks. Avri Bocock relieved effectively, closing out the game with two shutout innings and striking out four without issuing any walks.

Danville amassed a total of 14 hits and 13 walks during the game. Bocock and Johnston each drove in three runs, with Johnston finishing with two hits in three at-bats. The Blue Devils also excelled in base running, stealing ten bases as Brown, Mickley, and Kenzi Staats each recorded multiple steals.
