Daniel Lemaster struck out 11 and went the distance as Centerburg defeated Cardington-Lincoln 7-3 on Wednesday.
Lemaster gave up four hits and three runs — two earned — across seven innings while walking one. Cardington-Lincoln struck first in the opening inning, scoring a run off an error.
Centerburg responded with a five-run second inning to take control. Clarke Redd delivered the key hit, a three-run single on an 0-2 count. The Trojans scored their five runs on just two hits in the frame.
Wyatt Wade took the loss for the Pirates, tossing seven innings and allowing seven runs — four earned — on seven hits. He struck out nine and walked two.
Aiden Trobridge and Jonah Gribben each had two hits for the Trojans. Lemaster, Gribben, Ricky Faught, Dylan Snow and Redd each drove in a run. Gribben also swiped two bases, and the Trojans turned one double play defensively.
Wade and Fisher Schuman had an RBI apiece for Cardington-Lincoln. James Fiant, Schuman, Denton Garrison and Wyatt Denney each notched a hit.
Centerburg returns to action Saturday, hosting Grandview Heights.
