Faught fans 11 as Centerburg baseball tops Loudonville, 8-2

Ricky Faught delivered a commanding performance on the mound Monday, striking out 11 and leading Centerburg to an 8-2 road victory over Loudonville.

According to the game report, Faught allowed just three hits and two runs over seven innings, walking only one in a complete game effort for the Trojans. The game was tied 2-2 heading into the seventh inning before Centerburg erupted for six runs to seal the win. Daniel Lemaster broke the tie with a two-run single, followed by RBI singles from Ryan Long, Dylan Snow, and Vinny Morgan. Snow’s hit drove in two runs.

Loudonville opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a groundout by Judah Layton. Centerburg answered in the second with a sacrifice bunt by Clarke Redd to tie it at 1-1. Faught helped his own cause with an RBI single in the fifth to give Centerburg a 2-1 lead, but Loudonville responded in the bottom half with a game-tying single down the right field line by Chayse Wright.

Nic Buzzard took the loss for Loudonville. The left-hander allowed six runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings, striking out one and walking two. Starter Dilan Wade pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

Centerburg collected 10 hits in their win. Lemaster went 3-for-4, while Faught added two hits in three at-bats. The Trojans also turned a double play in the field. Wright led Loudonville at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and recording a team-high six defensive plays. Loudonville did not commit an error.

Centerburg will travel to Cardington-Lincoln on Wednesday for its next game.
