The East Knox Lady Dawgs were defeated by Cardington with a score of 48-35 in a girls' basketball game on Thursday night.
According to the game's statistics, Cardington, holding a record of 3-5, managed to control the match through an effective shooting performance, achieving a field goal percentage of 38.3 percent. In contrast, East Knox, now at 2-4 for the season, faced difficulties offensively with a field goal percentage of just 21.3 percent. Despite these challenges, the Lady Dawgs remained competitive in rebounding, surpassing the Pirates with a count of 30-29.
East Knox also witnessed notable individual performances. Reese Todd led her team with nine points, five rebounds, and two successful three-pointers out of six attempts. Isabelle Bostic contributed nine points along with four rebounds and one block. Malena Streby added seven points, three rebounds, two steals, and four assists.
However, turnovers posed a significant challenge for East Knox as they committed 23 throughout the game. This aspect hampered their ability to remain competitive in the contest. "We need to take better care of the basketball," said East Knox head coach Mandy Todd. "Turnovers are something we’ve been focusing on, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to execute tonight. But we’ll keep working hard and improve going forward."
As demonstrated during the matchup, Cardington's balanced offensive strategy enabled them to establish and maintain a comfortable lead throughout the game.
The Lady Dawgs aim to recover from this loss when they travel to Mount Gilead to face the Indians on December 20 at 6 p.m.
