Loudon Dixon of West Holmes competed for Team Ohio in the 157 pound class for the USA Wrestling/U.S. Marine Corps 16U Greco-Roman portion of the Fargo Nationals on July 19 and 20, and had a 5-2 record.

During his first day of Greco-Roman wrestling he had a 4-0 record, which sent him to the championship quarterfinals, according to the West Holmes wrestling newsletter. No. 22 Dixon took on No. 3 Jaxon Miller of Team Iowa and went up 1-0 after a passivity call. Dixon went up 3-0 after an arm drag with 20 seconds left in the period  to take down Miller. In the second period, Miller had a headlock takedown and back exposure points to make it a 4-3 match with 40 seconds left. With a second left, Miller recorded a point and won 5-3.

This sent Dixon to the consolation round of eight wrestlers. He faced No. 13 Zachery Little of Team Tennessee and had hopes of a win to achieve All-American status, but lost 4-3.

Coach Scott Vaughn said in the newsletter that he was proud of how Dixon competed, noting that his returning state placer and two-time state qualifier “used every moment to work to get better, wins or losses.”

“If he fails, he goes back to see what didn’t work and where he needs to improve,” Vaughn said in the newsletter. “In wins, he tries to find places that he can do better. He is always working to get better.”
