The East Knox Bulldogs (1-11, 1-4) have gotten into the winning column for the first time this season, dominating in a 62-43 victory over KMAC foe Danville (1-13, 0-6) on Jan. 17 in boys' basketball action.
Corbin Poff led all scorers with 15 points on 4-for-8 shooting. He also had team highs with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to pace the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs led right from the start, going up 12-2 in the first quarter led by Kyson Miller and Jesse Dudgeon who each had threes. Hayden Merritt scored six points in the second quarter to lead East Knox in outscoring the Blue Devils 15-6 to take a 27-8 lead at halftime. Merritt had eight points to lead all scorers. Dudgeon had six points including a pair of threes and, and Poff also tallied six points.
Danville woke up in the third quarter to outscore the Bulldogs 22-18, with Nate Stephens hitting a pair of threes to lead the Blue Devils. Miller and Dudgeon each had five points that included a three apiece.
The Bulldogs had a 17-13 advantage in the fourth to wrap up a 19 point win.
Dudgeon scored 14 points, going 3-for-6 from three, and had four rebounds. Bryer Korosec put up 11 points, going 9-for-12 from the foul line. He had six boards and two steals, as well. Hayden Merritt also had 11 points to go with six boards and two assists.
Miller had eight points, two boards and an assist, and Derrick Field had three points on a shot from downtown. Fields also had three offensive rebounds and a steal.
Ashton Spaulding led the Blue Devils with 10 points. Wesley Payne tallied seven points and Carson Proper, Kendall Carter and Stephens all had six points. Walker Weckesser and Clayton Vance each had threes in the game, and Aidan Mickley had two points for Danville.
East Knox looks to stay in the winning trend when the Bulldogs travel to Fredericktown (5-5, 3-2) on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. Danville hosts Mount Gilead (3-7, 1-4) on Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
