The Danville Blue Devils (8-3, 4-1) were riding a six game winning streak, but the girls’ basketball team had a tough time with Johnstown-Monroe (6-4, 3-1), taking a 70-54 loss at home on Dec. 30.
Danville took a 15-12 lead to start the game, with Ella Proper scoring five points including a three. The Johnnies had a 19-12 advantage in the second quarter, however, giving them a 31-27 halftime lead. The Blue Devils were led by Kylee Hess with eight points.
Both teams scored 15 points in the third quarter, but the Johnnies went of for 24 points while the Johnnies scored 12 in the fourth.
Hess led the way for Danville with 14 points, and was 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Proper had 14 points as well, and hit three from deep. Addison Mickley scored 10 points for the Blue Devils.
Johnstown-Monroe had a huge night from Abigail Adkins and Lauren Baughman. Adkins was a force for the Johnnies with 37 points, and Lauren Baughman scored 22 points in the win.
The Blue Devils will face River View (1-9, 1-6) on the road on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.
