Centerburg volleyball defeats Bishop Ready 3-1 in tournament play

The No. 3 Centerburg Trojans (19-4, 11-1) took a 3-1 win over No. 7 Bishop Ready (14-10, 8-5) in the second round of the OHSAA Central 1- Sectional/District volleyball tournament on Oct. 21.

The Trojans won the first set 25-14. Kennedi Glenn served up an ace to make it 3-1. Bishop Ready nearly dropped a point to follow, but Katelyn Johnson went diving for a dig. Stella Weisbrod made it a 9-2 set on an ace, and she also served an ace going up 11-2. Weisbrod continued her fine serving with an ace to make it 20-11. The set was won on a Julia Orndorf kill that landed in the back row.

In the second set, Glenn served an ace to put the Trojans on the board first. Tied 12-12, Weisbrod spiked a kill to put Centerburg up 13-12, and Chesnee Fairall dropped a kill to go up 14-12. It became a 16-13 set when Riley Skillman blocked a shot at the net that landed for a point. Glenn secured the set with a kill to win 25-21.

The third set was a dominating 25-8 win, with Glenn taking the set and match on a kill.

The Trojans take on No. 6 Pleasant on Oct. 24.
