Kolton Stover had more than 300 yards and two passing touchdowns for Highland (4-3, 1-3), but it wasn’t enough to topple the Galion Tigers (5-2, 2-1) in a 23-21 loss in OCC play.
In the first quarter Stover hit Kadyn Reichenbach for a 54-yard touchdown pass, and a Malin Fichtner kick made it a 7-0 lead for the Fighting Scots. Galion tied the game in the second quarter on a 21-yard touchdown run by Braxton Prosser, and then took the lead when Prosser ran the ball in from 62-yards out. Prosser made it a 20-7 game with a 34 yard touchdown pass to Elijah Chafin. Highland running back Dane Nauman got in on the scoring with a 38-yard rushing touchdown, and a Fichtner extra point made it 20-14 at halftime.
In the third quarter Stover connected with Ladon Hayes for a 27-yard touchdown pass, and Fichtner put Highland up by one on an extra point. Galion went on to kick a 28-yard field goal by Allen Carver to come from behind in the final frame for the win.
Stover went 20-for-38 for 314 yards and two touchdowns for Highland. He also ran the ball three times for 24 yards. Nauman tallied 96 yards on 19 carries, and a touchdown. Reidenbach had six catches for 156 yards and a touchdown, while Zach Church had five catches for 45 yards. Hayden Kline led the Highland defense with four tackles and an interception. Nauman had four tackles and a sack. Hayes led the team with seven tackles.
