Schultz places second, local schools run well in cross-country invites

In cross-country competition last week, Fredericktown, Highland, Loudonville and East Knox placed well, and Loudonville’s Tess Schultz finished second in the girls' race at Ashland.

Ashland CC Invitational

At the Ashland CC Invitational on Sept. 2, in Division 2-3 competition, Loudonville was fourth in the girls' race with Tess Schultz finishing second, 1:16 out of first and 47 seconds ahead of third, in a field of 54 runners. Redbird teammate Allison Tournoux placed 31st and Loudonville’s Nora Lance was 34th.

Highland Flying Scots Invitational

At the Highland Flying Scots Cross-Country Invitational on Sept. 2, Mount Vernon’s Logan Eggert had the top local schools’ finish, coming in 12th. Fredericktown earned the top spot among local schools with a third-place girls' finish among 14 schools in the girls' race and fourth among boys runners. The Freddies girls took third place, Mount Vernon was sixth, Highland was 10th and Danville was 13th.

The Freddies’ top finisher was Angelina Overholt at 23rd, followed closely by teammates Payton Blakesley (25th) and Taylor Brown (26th).

Among the boys, Fredericktown was fourth of 16 teams, Centerburg sixth, Highland 10th and Mount Vernon 12th.

The top Freddies runner was Aiden McManis, who finished 16th.

Highland’s Matthew Miller was 22nd and Cael Gilmore finished close behind him in 28th place.

Centerburg’s Nathan Dickhof came in 33rd.

Newcomerstown Cross-Country Invitational

In the Sept. 2 Newcomerstown Cross-Country Invitational at Newcomerstown High School,  East Knox was among the leaders.

In the boys' small school division competition, East Knox placed second among 18 invited teams. The Bulldogs had three top-20 finishes: Lucas Holland (16th), Dakota Ensminger (17th) and Kaiden Clutter (20th).

The EK girls placed fourth of 16 invited teams, in the girls' small school division, with three top-20 finishes. Taylor Severt finished ninth, Chloe Tucker came in 15th and Adrian Clutter was 17th.
